Trott ad earns warning for contending Bentivolio won’t meet with voters

U.S. House 11th District GOP Primary

Farmington Hills lawyer David Trott has waged an aggressive and well-funded campaign, backed by much of the GOP establishment, against one-term Tea Party incumbent Kerry Bentivolio in this district northwest of Detroit.

Who: Trott For Congress
What: “Trott Works For Us” TV ad
The call: Warning

Relevant text of the ad:

“Who’s working for us? Not Congressman Kerry Bentivolio. In Washington, Bentivolio failed to stand up for conservatives targeted by the IRS… by failing to vote and punish Lois Lerner for the scandal. In Michigan, Bentivolio won’t even hold town hall meetings to hear from the people he represents. Bentivolio isn’t doing his job… but Dave Trott, will work for us… protecting our conservative values and creating jobs. Congress talks… Dave Trott works.”

This 30-second ad highlights Bentivolio’s absence from a May 7 House vote on whether to hold Lois Lerner of the Internal Revenue Service in contempt for her actions in the controversy over the IRS and the tax-exempt status of conservative political groups. In an accompanying statement, Trott campaign manager Megan Piwowar asserts that Bentivolio is “hiding from voters in an effort to keep his congressional seat.”

Bentivolio campaign spokeswoman Barbara Bulic said Bentivolio has taken a “lead role” investigating the IRS as a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. She said he missed the May 7 vote because of food poisoning. Bulic added: “Kerry has held multiple town halls, round tables and over 1,000 one-on-one personal meetings and other events.”

The call: Warning

The ad singles out one missed vote on the IRS controversy and draws the conclusion it means Bentivolio failed to stand up for conservatives on the issue. Bentivolio may not share Trott’s opinion, but the underlying facts (that Bentivolio missed the vote) are not in dispute.

Trott’s assertion that Bentivolio is “hiding from voters” is based on the claim that the incumbent does not hold “town halls.” His campaign spokesperson says otherwise.

In fact, it was at a town hall meeting where Bentivolio made national news, by stating that impeaching President Obama “would be a dream come true.”

One should beware of those that want power so much that they go to any extreme to get it. If anyone really dug into Trott’s past, he is not the type of person I’d want to be one of the gang of 435.

And Trott is any better? He’ll just illegally kick voters out of their homes.

Trott’s firm Trott and Trott is one of the largest foreclosure law firms in the nation. They represented Countrywide home loans when Counrtywide payed the property taxes on someone else’s home with my escrow and put me into foreclosure for unpaid taxes. They are venomous bottom feeders and I definitely do not want him representing my issues in Congress. He will work for himself, to increase his wealth and status. Anybody but Trott!

Maybe David Trott is taking a page from the Brian Ellis play book. He’s running against Justin Amash in the 3rd CD. His ads are nothing but lies and clips taken out of context and twisted to fit the Ellis agenda. Just like Trott singling out one vote that Kerry missed. That same GOP establishment that supports Trott also supports Brian Ellis. At least Kerry Bentovolio lets the people ask questions at his meetings.. At an Ellis meet and greet your questions are screened before he will answer them. I guess censorship is alive and well in the Ellis camp. Kerry also had the integrity to return an award that the US Chamber of Commerce gave him because they were “in the pocket of China.” He was criticized for that, but maybe he saw the light. If a candidate has only one thing to focus on, I’d say that candidate is in trouble. The more negative the ads, the more trouble they are in.

They are both slimy, but Trott is far more disgusting then his counterpart . Please don’t vote for him. His fortune was made out of the corruption of big banks.

Yes, it is true that Trott & Trott is the largest law firm in Michigan that does home forclosures. But what is a home loan? It is a contract between the buyer and a financial institution. An agreement that says the homeowner will make payments to pay off the loan. Trott & Trott is just a law firm that works on behalf of the financial institution. If you want to get mad about the housing crisis, get mad at the bank or savings & loan. Get mad at Bill Clinton & congress for passing the Community Reinvestment Act. Trott & Trott has also worked to keep homeowners in their homes by renegotiating the contract. But no one ever wants to talk about that.

This also ignores the other businesses that Dave Trott either owns or is a partner in. A Real Estate company, Title company, Sports marketing firm, etc. All together he and his companies have created 1800+ jobs. That sounds like the kind of job creator I want in congress.

As for Bentivolio, he will occasionally appear at a Tea Party meeting, but otherwise has avoided any debates or town hall meetings. He was supposed to be the lead speaker at an event just this past week in Canton…and was a no-show.
