Today marks the start of Bridge Michigan’s spring fundraising campaign, and we are asking readers across the state to help us keep watching out for Michigan. In a year when independent, fact-based journalism matters more than ever, your support ensures our newsroom can continue the accountability reporting, election coverage, and community engagement that Michiganders depend on.
Our reporters are in the rooms where decisions are made, asking questions, tracking promises and explaining what those choices mean for people across the state. When issues affect your schools, your environment, your taxes or your community, someone needs to be paying close attention.

Nearly half of our revenue comes from individuals, making reader support essential as traditional news outlets continue to face unprecedented challenges. Every dollar helps fund independent, fact-based reporting that holds leaders accountable, informs residents, and strengthens communities across Michigan.
This is what reader support helped make possible:
- The Bridge education team exposed Michigan’s decade-long decline in reading scores — helping elevate the issue statewide and prompting Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to make literacy her top priority.
- Environmental reporting revealed how invasive mussels are devastating whitefish populations in Lakes Michigan and Huron, helping spur bipartisan federal legislation to address the crisis.
- An investigation into Michigan’s fragmented senior services system showed how older adults are often pushed toward nursing homes when modest support could help them remain at home.
Today, I’m asking you to make a gift to support Bridge Michigan. A contribution of $25, $50, or whatever is meaningful to you will directly fund reporting that keeps Michiganders informed and leaders accountable.
We’ve set a goal to raise $60,000 by April 29. Every gift moves us closer.
We’re watching out for Michigan. And we’re watching out for you.
Will you help us get there?
