For the past several weeks, Bridge Magazine has been asking you, our readers, for your help in bringing to you Michigan’s best source of fact-based, non-partisan, thoughtful journalism.

Bridge is a publication of the Center for Michigan, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to making Michigan a better place. We started Bridge four years ago because we were concerned the deterioration of newspapers had opened an information vacuum between Michigan citizens and their leaders. Our hope has been to fill that vacuum with the kind of journalism you want and need to be good citizens of our state. Bridge now has earned more than one million annual readers, compelling evidence that there is big time demand for high quality journalism that helps people stay informed.

Frankly, we are both delighted and astonished at the positive response to our spring fund raising campaign. More than 300 people have contributed in amounts ranging from $5 to $1,000. That’s exactly the kind of broad – and very generous – response we were hoping to provoke. It demonstrates that lots of Michigan citizens want and need exactly the kind of journalism we produce day in, day out.

We’re ending our campaign this week. We are extremely grateful at the support you have shown to us. And we pledge to continue to provide you exactly the kind of thoughtful journalism you have come to want and expect.
