Bridge Culture Club returns from noon to 1 p.m. on April 15 to discuss “The Waters,” a novel by Michigan author Bonnie Jo Campbell that the Washington Post listed as one of the 50 notable works of fiction in 2024.

Born and raised in Comstock, Campbell is an acclaimed writer who was a finalist for the 2009 National Book Award for Fiction for a collection of short short stories, “American Salvage.”

“The Waters” is set on a fictional island in Michigan and features an off-the-grid herbalist mother and her three daughters who navigate family secrets, community divisions and the wild landscape that shelters and threatens them. The book was a “Read with Jenna” selection on the Today Show’s book club.

Bridge’s Culture Club discussion is online and will feature Campbell, who will answer questions about the book, her Michigan inspiration and writing process.

You’ll have an opportunity to submit questions for Campbell during the event, which will be moderated by Bridge Michigan Fund Development Specialist Jackie Garrett.

To receive an invitation and link to this virtual discussion, please complete the event registration form on Eventbrite.
