  • Bridge reporter Ron French discusses his reporting on the opioid crisis and Senate candidate Mike Rogers

LANSING — Donald Trump visited Michigan twice last week, and Kamala Harris was here on Labor Day, again signaling the state is “hugely important” to both presidential campaigns, reporter Simon Schuster said Tuesday.

“So far, Republicans have been here more often,” Schuster noted in the latest Bridge Michigan elections FAQ live show, hosted by Isabel Lohman and featuring fellow reporters Jordyn Hermani and Ron French.

Among the topics in this week’s show:

  • A breakdown of recent Harris, Trump and Vance visits
  • Reader questions about election rules and why Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is stuck on the Michigan ballot but Joe Biden is not (Note: Kennedy has since sued the state in an attempt to force his own removal)
  • An ongoing effort by Republicans to make Gotion and China a defining issue in the U.S. Senate race between Mike Rogers and Elissa Slotkin
  • Lawmakers on both side of the aisle have signed non-disclosure agreements related to Gotion or other economic deals, and in several cases, have later expressed regret for doing so
  • Rogers’ actions – or inaction – in Congress as the opioid crisis was beginning to explode

Michigan elections FAQ will return next week for another live show. It’s scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m. Sign up now for the free, online event.
