The new 6th Congressional District connects Ann Arbor and the rest of Washtenaw County with portions of western Wayne County and most of the city of Novi in Oakland County. It is solidly Democratic.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Midland, is seeking a fifth term in a redrawn district that shifted west, but retained its conservative leanings.
The board has little influence over day-to-day operations of Michigan schools, but it has become a focal point of cultural and gender controversies over curriculum. Two seats are up for grabs.
