Bridge Michigan invites readers to a free Zoom discussion from noon to 1 p.m. on April 2 about aging in Michigan.
Michigan faces an aging crisis: one in five residents are 65 or older and many seniors work longer and raise grandchildren amid shrinking support services, poor transportation access, and policies favoring nursing homes over aging at home.
Join Bridge’s health reporter Robin Erb for a discussion with Tom Jankowski, the interim director of the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University, Vince Tilford, president and CEO at the Hannan Center, and Lisa Dedden Cooper, director of operations for the National Council of Dementia Minds for a conversation looking at the challenges and potential solutions for Michigan seniors.
Participants can ask questions of our reporters via the Zoom chat feature throughout the event or submit a question prior to the event by filling out this form. Pull up a chair, grab your lunch and join us for this interactive discussion.
Please fill out our Lunch Break registration form to be sent a calendar invitation to the event, including the Zoom link.
Bridge’s Lunch Break monthly series focuses on timely topics facing our state. Previous events have discussed the impact of the Trump administration’s policies on Michigan, the changing landscape of deer hunting in the state, spending of Michigan’s opioid settlement funds, solutions to gun violence in Michigan, Michigan’s population crisis, youth mental health in Michigan and the legacy of the automotive industry on the state’s environment and economy.
