Bridge Michigan’s monthly Lunch Break event returned Wednesday with a discussion about how the policies of President Donald Trump have impacted Michigan.
Deputy editor Jonathan Oosting led reporters Ron French and Lauren Gibbons through a wide-ranging discussion including potential Medicaid cuts, possible tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports (particularly significant for Michigan's auto industry) and the impact of federal workforce reductions on national parks and forests.
The hourlong event also covered the threat to withhold funding from institutions with diversity, equity and inclusion policies and how climate initiatives and green energy funding face uncertain futures.
