Michigan’s college readiness rate is down from a decade ago, according to results from the SAT.
High school students take the test in their junior year. Just 25.3% of students in the state are considered college ready.
The College Board, the group behind the SAT, says a student is college ready if they score above a certain level on the math test and the reading and writing test. But school leaders and experts say there are many other ways to measure if a student is ready for life after high school.
Statewide, 26.5% of students met the math benchmark during the 2025-2026 school year and 52.1% met the reading and writing mark.
