• Bridge plans an examination of Michigan rivers
  • Readers can help shape the coverage by letting us know their top concerns around Michigan rivers
  • We’ll use that feedback to shape our coverage

Michigan’s rivers are under pressure, as evidenced by last week’s heavy rains and snowmelt that threatened dams, caused extensive flooding and forced residents from their homes.

Before this unique weather event turned the spotlight on rivers, specifically dam infrastructure, Bridge Michigan environmental reporter Kelly House was already on the case – writing about dam safety reforms, Consumers Energy’s plan to sell its 13 dams and more.

This summer, Bridge is going deeper. We’re launching a series examining Michigan rivers — the threats they face, conservation efforts, recreational opportunities and what they mean for the communities that depend on them.

We want to make sure our reporting reflects the people who use, study, and protect Michigan’s rivers. That’s where you come in.

Please take a few moments to fill out this brief survey and tell us what matters to you about Michigan’s rivers.

This survey is part of Bridge Listens, an intentional effort to listen to you — and put readers’ priorities at the center of our coverage.

This yearlong listening effort aims to identify what you believe are Michigan’s most important issues, and we’ll use that feedback to help shape our reporting.

We’ll share what we learn along the way and explain how it informs our work.

Thanks so much. We can’t wait to hear from you.
